Illustration Friday - Insect

My starting point for this weeks topic is a wasp. That's because I have a very special relationship with a wasp: I drive one!
In Italy a wasp is called "Vespa" and -as many people now- it's the name of a very famous scooter brand. Since the second world war they call it a Vespa, because the engine just sounds like a wasp. It seemed therefore appropriate to me to use the title: Vespa, the greatest wasp of all".

With Adobe Illustrator I made an illustration from a photograph of a wasp and put it with Adobe Indesign like wallpaper behind the silhouet of a Vespa.
Both the picture of the scooter and the logo of Vespa I pulled across with Adobe Illustrator as well.

I think this kind of graphic design is hot at the moment in my country, the Netherlands. That's why I'd liked to try something in this particular style.

Did you know that in Italy they also have a really small 'truck', called an "Ape"? I googled a picture of this kind of car, to show below. The name "Ape" means "working bee" in Italian! I think they are very nice.
